Kidney Symptoms

Kidney disease is most often a silently progressing condition with very few actual signs or symptoms that are easily identified.  The truth however, is that a general reduction in kidney function is so common that it is now being accepted as 'normal' age related degeneration.

Kidney degeneration is anything but 'normal' and periodic kidney cleanses or regular drinking of kidney cleansing teas , may go a long way to supporting the kidneys.

Kidney Infection Symptoms

Kidney Infection is also known as pyelonephritis (the '...itis' in any disease name simply means 'inflammation' or 'swelling'). This may  be acute, where the onset is sudden, or chronic (long standing) where the kidney is scarred as a result of repeated, possibly low grade infections over years.

Symptoms of ACUTE Pyelonephritis usually develop quickly, (over a few hours).  They are generally one sided and may include:

  • Pain in a a side of the abdomen or back area over the kidney.
  • (The kidneys sit behind the lower ribs, but pain may be lower than that.)
  • Fever or high temperature, possibly causing shivers.
  • Feeling sick (nausea) and possibly vomiting
  • Diarrhoea
  • Blood in the urine.
  • As a rule there are also symptoms of bladder infection including pain when you pass urine, frequent urination and bladder or urethral discomfort.

What causes the Symptoms of Kidney Disease?
Acute pyelonephritis symptoms are generally caused by bacterial infection and mostly follow or occur at the same time as a urinary tract infection (UTI)

Urinary tract infections are more common in women as bacteria are more easily carried from the anus to the vagina, and may also be introduced during sex.  Because the urinary tube (the urethra) is shorter in women bacteria can reach the bladder more easily and from there pass up the ureters to the kidneys.

Cystitis is a common urinary tract infection
and yet it rarely spreads to the kidneys.  If you simply have urinary tract discomfort and burning when urinating, your should not jump to the conclusion that you have a kidney infection.

Any obstruction to the normal flow of urine, such as an enlarged prostate in men or kidney stones in either sex will increase the chances of bacterial collecting in the urinary tract and spreading to the kidneys.

Treatment of Urinary Tract and Kidney Infections
Doctors generally prescribe antibiotic courses for these conditions.  In the alternative and complementary fields there are many anti-bacterial agents with a long history of successful use behind them.

These include colloidal silver , freeze dried garlic , olive leaf extract and the ingredients that are included in Para x .  To strengthen and support kidney and urinary health over time, we also suggest kidney cleanses and kidney tonics such as Kidney Plex .  For more information on Kidney Treatment, please click here .
