Co-Enzyme Q-10 400 mg

Article: 11087
Size: 30 veg. Capsules

Ingredients (per Capsule):

400 mg Co-Enzym Q-10 (Ubiquinone), organic soybean oil, gelatin, glycerin, purified water, beeswax, annatto

Co-Enzyme Q10 is a naturally occurring, fat soluble antioxidant, without which we cannot survive.  Every cell requires it and as our levels drop, so does our general health.  Low levels of Co-Q 10 may result in:

  • high blood pressure
  • heart attack
  • angina
  • immune system depression
  • periodontal disease
  • lack of energy & obesity

What is Co-Enzyme Q10
Co-Enzyme Q10 (Co-Q-10) is a quinone derivative with what is referred to as a tail, where the 10 refers to the length of the tail.  Co-Q-10 is also known as 'ubiquinone' because it is ubiquitous in biological systems.  Co-Q-10 not only available in foods.  It is also made within the body, however our ability to produce it decreases with age.

Co-Enzyme Q10 Ageing & the Immune System
Studies supplementing mice with Co-Q10 have shown increased lifespan of up to 50%, and extended youthfulness and ability to ward off infection.

Co-Enzyme Q10 as an Energy Booster
Co-Q-10 has been shown to stimulate energy production in people feeling tired or run down.   Coenzyme Q10 is essential in the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the basic energy molecule of each cell.

In the bloodstream, Coenzyme Q10 is mainly transported by lipoproteins including LDL (low-density lipoprotein) and HDL (high-density lipoprotein). Coenzyme Q10 may be one of the first antioxidants to be depleted when LDL suffers oxidative stress.  Coenzyme Q10 is therefore an important nutrient that prevents the oxidation of lipoproteins. It may potentially reduce the risk of arterial damage and  plaque formation.  In healthy individuals, Coenzyme Q10 is found in high concentrations in the heart, kidneys, and liver.

Maximum daily dose of Coenzyme Q10
The safety and tolerability of high dosages of coenzyme Q10 were studied in 17 patients with Parkinson's disease in an open label study.

An increasing dose of Coenzyme Q10 was given to the test subjects as follows:- 1200, 1800, 2400, and 3000 mg/day with a constant vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) dose of 1200 IU/day.

The blood level reached a plateau at the coenzyme q10 2400 mg/day dosage and did not increase further at the 3000 mg/day dosage.

Dr. Sahelian commented: I'm still not comfortable recommending dosages of Coenzyme Q10 above 100 mg a day for prolonged periods until we have at least a 3 year study of high doses given to humans.
