The amino acid L-Arginine also:

  • supports bone growth and regeneration
  • supports weight loss by transforming fat into muscle
  • has anti aging effects due to the stimulation of human growth hormone
  • improves insulin sensitivity to help normalize blood sugar
  • bolsters the immune system,
  • boosts energy
  • increases sperm count and motility by up to 250% in 2 weeks

In short, L-Arginine has been found to benefit all biological functions which rely on healthy, responsive blood vessels and circulation - including brain function.

L-Arginine is the Precursor to Nitric Oxide
The remarkable properties of L-arginine were validated with the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine, which turned previous perception of Nitric Oxide on its head, demonstrating its vital roll in hundreds of biological functions, where it had previously been seen purely as a free radical.  Since then, L-Arginine has been dubbed the Miracle Molecule and main-stream medicine has shown a great interest in this single amino acid for cardiovascular, and sexual health.

L-Arginine in Food
L-arginine is an essential amino acid found in milk, cheese, yogurt, meat, and other protein rich foods including most nuts, beans and pulses.

When isolated as a single amino acid and transported appropriately into the bloodstream, L-arginine has the ability to produce profound results.

L-Arginine and Cardio-Vascular Health
Columbia University researchers have dubbed  L-arginine the magic bullet for the cardiovascular system. They have compiled over 10,000 citations identifying the benefits of this remarkable amino acid.

All blood vessels are lined with endothelial cells, and in 1980 it was discovered they release a signaling factor which relaxes the the smooth muscle of those blood vessels, known as vasodilation.  Without this, the vessels become tight and restrictive, contributing to symptoms from angina to erectile dysfunction.  In 1887 it was discovered that this signaling factor was Nitric Oxide, and in 1988 Salvador Moncada clearly demonstrated that blood vessels make Nitric Oxide (or NO) from L-Arginine.

• Nitric Oxide regulates the muscle tone of blood vessels to have a major impact on controlling blood pressure.
• Nitric Oxide stops blood platelet cells from grouping together in a clot to help prevent blockages in the blood vessels.
• L-Arginine counters heart disease and aids in blood pressure regulation.

L-Arginine and Hulda Clark
Dr Hulda Clark has identified that parasites excrete ammonia into our bodies as a defence against our immune systems.  This can make us wakeful at night, and the aggravation may worsen during parasite and liver cleanses.  To help the liver break down and detoxify the increased excretion of ammonia during these periods, she recommends supplementing with Ornithine before bed, which tends to deepen sleep, and Arginine in the morning which has the effect of creating alertness.  Both assist the liver in detoxifying ammonia.

L-Arginine and the Immune System
• Nitric Oxide (derived from Arginine) helps the immune system fight viral, bacterial and parasitic infections as well as tumors.  It has been found that nitric oxide is proficient at tackling many microbes, from parasites to bacterial and viral infections which are otherwise hard to eradicate.

L-Arginine and the Brain
It can cross the blood-brain barrier to signal the hypothalamus which naturally stimulates the pituitary gland to produce growth hormone. It's vasodilating properties also assist in proper blood supply to the brain for proper function.

L-Aginine and Sexual Health
Numerous studies have shown the positive benefits of Arginine to sexual health, performance and fertility.  33% of women in a double blind clinical study became pregnant when supplementing arginine after having failed to conceive for between 6 and 36 months previously.  An additional effect for women is increase in orgasms, because Nitric Oxide allows improved clitoral and vaginal blood flow and sensitivity

Erectile dysfunction (ED) affects 50% of the male population over the age of 40. When properly taken, Arginine can increase blood-flow to the genital area which tends to decrease with age.  It may also increase testosterone availability, sperm count and motility.  Increases sexual desire and sensitivity may also occur in both men and women.

Researchers believe that Nitric Oxide “can correct up to 90% of all penile dysfunction.” According to Dr. Arthur Burnett, a leading Johns Hopkins urologist, NO is the chemical messenger that produces erections.  Without NO there could be no natural erections.

Other products that may assist with libido or poor sexual performance include Maca capsules and Mucuna powder.
